Clear Plastic Orchid Pots...in many sizes

Let's face it, in nature epiphytic plants (orchids, bromeliads, and others) grow with their roots exposed to the open air and sunlight. That encourages photosynthesis in the roots, and prevents them from staying too damp for too long. Without growing them on trees ourselves, we can give them the closest thing to that environment by keeping them in clear plastic orchid pots, which allows the roots to get light and also lets us observe the moisture content of the potting medium to avoid overwatering. Other plants don't care as much about light getting to their roots (in fact many don't like it), but potting in soil instead of bark takes care of that, and being able to check the moisture content visually is still a handy gardener's aid. We offer a wide range of clear plastic orchid pots so your plants can enjoy these benefits themselves.

Some growers of carniverous plants have also discovered the advantages of growing their plants in these clear, well-ventilated pots.

As you can see, on the left, The Square One holds the amount of material that is in it -- MORE than the 6.0NCUV. On the right it holds that much more mix than the 6.5NCUV. I filled the SQGNCUV then from it I filled the 6.0NCUV and had that much left in the SQGNCUV, filled the SQGNCUV again and from it filled the 6.5NCUV and that is what's left on the right side.

Perfect for cymbidiums, paphiopedilums, phrags, phalaenopsis, epidendrums, reed stems, etc etc. Fits the JMCMS558B trays shown below perfectly.

This took some doing, some persuading, some storage, some $$, and a good effort by a lot of people. These are two new pots we are manufacturing for the "Clear/Translucent Pot With UV Protection" collection. Both of these will grow large plants, especially orchids in the specimen sizes. Cymbidiums, Cattleyas, Phals, Dendrobiums, Epidendrums, Oncidiums and the like will especially like the strong heavy pot to hold them upright. These will last you for years and years. Re-use them, no problem. I have had some of these in black kicking around for 20 or more years.

12 inch diameter x 9 deep, heavy duty, sturdy translucent pot. Because these are big and sturdy, they are a lot thicker and require a good amount of the UV inhibitor to make them last. If they were completely clear they would be very brittle, for max strength like this you can still see thru them to check the roots and look for moisture. That's a Dr Thunder bottle inside this one and you can still read the label.

I grew six pots of these with 3 strawberry plants each.  I placed each on another of the same size but black and upside down. This made a great strawberry patch.  I could pick strawberries without bending much, the birds could not get the berries because they hung over the side for the most part, and since the birds are not hummingbirds they couldn’t eat the berries.   Easy to keep the bugs off with Sluggo cast about and even after being covered with snow a foot deep, they ALL came back and produced berries this year.  I found it much easier to keep the weeds, birds and bugs away, easier to water and easy to have a nice supply of berries all year.  It’s mid October in Oregon and we are still picking berries.

NEW! Ray Rand's Clear Air Cone Pots

Ray Rand Clear Plastic Air Cone PotsRay Rand Clear Air Cone Pots Air Cone Pots are now made with an Ultra Violet inhibited plastic to last longer. Every pot, no matter what size, has the same basic shape as you see here. The lines on the bottom of the pot indicate the bottom is slightly slanted upward to the cone in the middle.

In a Rand Air Cone pot, air comes in through the slots in the side and then flows towards the middle, and also enters the cone through the bottom. This insures more even air flow and helps the center of the pot, generally the hardest spot to get dry, to keep up with the rest of the pot.
