My favorite for ridding your plant of pests. Mix this to the minimum suggested, keep it stirred and spray plants for nearly every imaginable insect. Don't use it at over 85 degrees or under 45 degrees. Kills mealies, aphids, scale, mites, termites, and all it is, is a light parrafinic oil.

6.05 Orange Guard - Smells good!!!!
NEW on the market, you may have seen an article on it in the AOS Magazine "Orchids". This gets rid of your bugs and at no ones expense. It is made only from the skin of oranges and not harmful to pets, plants or humans. Especially good for ridding the area of ants.
To be best effective you should HIT the bug with it, but it does have some residual strength which doesn't kill but keeps the bugs away.
Two types are available,
Regular for most garden pests - This will also kill fire ants
Orange Guard for Ornamental Plants Orange Guard for Ornamental Plants is the same proven formula, but when applied to ornamental plants, it becomes a concentrate.
At a 4 parts water/1 part Orange Guard for Ornamental Plants dilution, the effects on aphids and spider mites is almost 100% control. At 6 parts water/1 part Orange Guard for Ornamental Plants the control is still over 90%. Burial is extra.
When spraying, avoid open blooms, new growth and the heat of the day. It is best to hydrate the plant 30 minutes before application.
Fire Ant version - Special for getting rid of the fire ants, permanently!
Orange Guard Fire Ant Control Orange Guard Fire Ant Control is the same proven formula, but when applied to Fire Ant mounds, is statistically equivalent in efficacy either full strength or 3 parts water 1 part Orange Guard Fire Ant Control dilution.
Puncture and saturate the mounds using 1/2 gallon of either full strength or diluted Orange Guard Fire Ant Control.
When the 3 parts water/1 part Orange Guard Fire Ant Control was applied to 19 mounds in College Station, TX by Granovsky and Assn., there was only activity found in 1 mound when excavated 30 days later.
Gallon $19
A spray head you can use with the gallon jug. a sprayer with three feet of hose and a tapered end that will fit most bottles, especially these gallon jugs. $2.50 each. Also usable with other bottles so we have extras.
6.06 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ORANGE GUARD
How does Orange Guard Kill insects? The active ingredient d-Limonene (orange peel extract) destroys the wax coating of the insect's respiratory system. When applied directly, the insect suffocates.
How does Orange Guard repel insects? The citrus fragrance of d-Limonene acts as a repellent.
May I spray Orange Guard on my kitchen counters? Yes, without worry, no need to evacuate the house. Easy clean up with damp cloth or sponge. Remember to read and follow directions on the label.
Ants are crawling up my trees, can Orange Guard stop this? Saturate the base of the tree including the earth around it, check in a couple of days to see if they have returned. If they have, saturate again and try to follow trail to source and saturate.
There are large ants in my yard. They don't come in my house or cause any problem in the garden. Should I exterminate them? No, these ants are leaf cutters that are just doing their job cleaning your yard, they are endangered by the evil Argentinean Ants which are displacing them. When we lose our leaf cutting ants we also lose our horn toads which eat them. Horn toads do not eat Argentine ants because they are too small.
Ants are in my trash can. What can I do? Orange Guard is a contact killer, so spray the visible ants until wet. Spray inside the can on stream setting, spraying the corners or edges and letting the Orange Guard run to the bottom. Also follow ant trail to source, or cracks and crevices, and saturate.
What are the inert ingredients in Orange Guard? Are they safe? All ingredients in Orange Guard meet the food grade G.R.A.S. (generally recognized as safe) standard set by the FDA. Orange Guard is water based, with a natural emulsifier, which is proprietary.
May I spray my carpeting? Yes, as a prewash spray for fleas. Steam clean carpet after treatment.
How safe is Orange Guard? Orange Guard is a water-based insecticide. All ingredients in Orange Guard meet the G.R.A.S. (generally recognized as safe) standard set by FDA. d-Limonene is approved by the FDA as a food additive, and is found in products such as fruit cakes, cleaners, degreasers, air fresheners and pet shampoos. Orange Guard is 100% biodegradable and water-soluble. Orange Guard is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute.
Is there a complete list of insects that Orange Guard's active ingredient controls? No. The EPA calls d-Limonene a broad-based insecticide.
What affects the duration of Orange Guard's repelling effect? Exposure shortens the life of the repellency. Orange Guard repels best in cracks and crevices and works when the surface is absorbent and saturated.
What if insects return after using Orange Guard? Try to find source of infestation and re-apply Orange Guard.
Are there any temperature restrictions for storing and using Orange Guard? Orange Guard can be stored at normal room temperatures and can be applied at any temperature. Do not boil or freeze.
Will Orange Guard stain cement? Orange Guard is entirely water-soluble. Any marks left on cement should rinse clean with water.
Can I spray Orange Guard on my pets? We are not yet labeled for spraying pets. You may spray pet bedding to control fleas.

Large Manzanita Picture - Large pieces described below, order by number and that's the piece you will get unless it says SOLD
This is really nice for mounting plants, but it isn't cheap! In California it is mostly illegal to cut dig, pick or irritate some Manzanita. It's a native shrub here But some varieties are ok to ship. Excellent for mounting, resists rotting. It is a pretty hard wood and lasts for a good long time as a mount. Plants root out readily when mounted on this material and it's a very nice looking wood, decorative as well as great for the roots.
ANYWAY, the first batch I received is really large stuff, and I been cutting it up. But some pieces are so nice I can't bear to cut them. They would make really nice things to mount plants on. Some are 36 in length and branching. Many plants can be mounted like that.
The plants can be attached with nothing underneath if you are a heavy waterer, or, you can put a bit of moss on the wood before you mount the plant. Easy ways to attach the plant are 1. using about a 4 pound monofiliment (fishing line) or using the new plastic wire holder clamps you can find in home depot. They allow you to pull the thing up nice and snug until it roots, and they are simple to snip off when the plant is fully attached.
Make yourself a really nice show piece. On the larger pieces more than one plant looks very natural and can keep the whole presentation interesting all year.
6.5 Wire Hangers
4 wire hangers - (10) for $5.00 - These are four wire hangers with a hook on the top so they will fit over nails or pipe. I always buy these, they are about the same price as three wire hangers. If I don't need the fourth wire I simply snip it off and keep it for tying up a Phalaenopsis spike. I can always use that extra piece of wire for something. Approx. 24 inches long
6.55 - Wire Stakes, Rhizome Clips, etc., etc.,
I have had many requests for rhizome clips. I don't buy any, but you can make them from the Painted Steel Plant Stakes above, or, I can make some for you. Here are pictures of some of the things I can make for you and the prices for them. Plant Stake - Rhizome Clip - Hooks on rim of pot. Picture 1 - Picture 2 Close up. These I can make to fit 4.0NCUV, 5.5NCUV, 6.5NCUV, or 7.5NCUV pots. These two types will fit any pot with a lip around the top. Plant Stakes - They just snap on the pot lip and squeeze the plastic tight enough to keep themselves and the plants erect. You can attach the plant to the top of the tall one with one of the "bug" plant clips or a regular garden tie. Tell me which size pot you want them for and I will custom make them for you for .65¢ each for the short one or .75¢ each for the taller ones. You just push them down on the edge of the pot as shown and they hold them selves in place. Rhizome Clip - This snaps on the lip of any of the above mentioned pots and is shaped to push down slightly on the plant rhizome. Used mostly for Cattleya and Laelia types that would fall over by themselves. There are two views of it in each picture so you can get the idea of how it works. You tell me which pot you want it for and I will custom make make them for you for .60¢ each. Each will come with rubber tips on both ends. Plant Stake - For pots with no lip at the top. Picture 3 - These I can make to fit 4.5NCUV and 6.0NCUV pots as shown in the pics. You can see this one is inserted into one of the drainage holes in the bottom for stability. These are sent with one bend to finish when you install them. The bend that goes over the lip at the top will only be partially made or you can't get them on the pot. These wires are really easy to bend, so it will come so that you only have to insert it into the hole on the bottom, fit it against the side of the pot on the outside and finish bending it over the lip down into the pot. It's easy on the pot too. These two pots are pretty light and this bend will grip without cracking the pot, and is sturdy enough to keep the plant upright like you want. These I can make for .65¢ for the short one and .75¢ for the tall ones. Rubber tip on the top only. Interesting to note here, this stake can also be used as a plant pot hanger in many cases, especially the 4.5NCUV pot. I used to just put a little hook on the top of the wire by bending it over, works great.` Picture 4 - Picture 5 - Rhizome Clip - These I can make to fit just about any pot you have. I only need to the size if it's one of mine and I will make them so you can use them for that pot. You can cut and make these pretty easy with the Painted Plant Stakes above, but if you want me to cut and bend them for you I can do so. They will come to you looking like a hairpin with the bend in the middle. The only thing you have to do to use them is fish them down thru the mix like a giant hairpin, until the plant is clamped slightly to hold it steady, then with a pair of pliers you bend the ends where they stick thru the holes in the bottom of the pots to keep them from raising back up so they keep the plant clamped. These I can make for .40¢ each from the painted plant stakes, they don't need a rubber tip Of course I can make any of these type of wires for any pots you might have, but if it is not one of my pots you should send me one pot so the stakes are custom fitted and work properly. The prices will still be what you have seen here. I can make anything up to 30 inches long naturally, over that we would need to switch to galvanized stakes and the prices would be slightly higher.
6.6 - Galvanized Plant Stakes (yes, the rubber tips will fit the size #9)
These are heavier galvanized steel plant stakes. I stock two sizes for my own use, you may be interested in them. I always find the stakes on the market to be too wimpy, the flower stems are too heavy and bend the wire stakes over. So I had some made for my own use.
#6 Galvanized wire (a little over .20 inch in diameter) x 60 inches long .85¢ each
These are strong and will hold up tall Sobralias, long phal spikes, or Tall growths on Dendrobiums. They can be used to hang vandas, mokaras, angraecums etc.. You will probably have to bend these in a vise. It's stout stuff, no more wimpy wires. These little tikes weigh .355 of a pound each, about 1/3 rd of a pound, will last forever and you can probably prop up the greenhouse with them!! Really heavy duty for tall plants.
#9 Galvanized wire (a little over .16 inch in diameter) x 36 inches long .30¢ each
For such a short stake these are very strong but easily bent with a pair of pliers. You can bend loops and curves or whatever on the ends of these. I always bend over the first half inch so that I don't take a chance on leaning into one a poking my eye out. Some growers simply dip the end of the wire in white paint so they are more aware of it when planting. I found these can be wound around a piece of pvc pipe to make the phalaenopsis wires that are spirals. Cut them in two for short plant spikes that will Laaaaasssssst! Weight is .178 of a pound each.
6.7 Wood Plant Stakes - 36 inches long
Bamboo for a very inexpensive stake. Stained green, you will get several years service out of them. Cut them up easily for shorter stakes.
10 stakes $1.25
25 stakes $3.00
50 stakes $5.00
100 stakes $7.50
