3.1 Books for sale - New and Used (Found another box full of books I had not found since we moved here to Oregon, I'm sure there are more tucked away, so I will just list them as they show up. Many of these offered here are brand spankin' new because I bought lots of them from Timber Press and sold them on my website and in our newsletter for years. So they were not purchased to read but to sell. I bet at one time I had sold over 1500 of the Golden Guide of Orchids. It's a great little book no species collector should be without. I recently called the publisher in New York and the word is that it will be published again soon, probably within a year. I can only wonder if AOS will let them use the corrected "revised" issue they put out for ten years or so, or if they will have to revert to the original printing which had a lot of errors in it. 1. The Brazilian Biofliate Cattleyas and Their Color Varieties by Jack Fowlie Used $135.00. I say used because the outside of the book is weathered a tiny bit with a small (1/2") stain on the front, but gold lettering intact and not worn. Inside the book is perfect. There are 21 paintings of the Cattleya species by Rosalie Roth that are probably worth more than the book if framed. Published by Azul Quinct, pictures are exquta Press in 1977 this book is already considered and "antique" I think. 11 3/8 x 14 1/4, hard bound. Another picture with book open 2. All About Orchids - $20.00 - Charles Marden Fitch, 1981 - 276 pages, 200 photos, 22 in full color. (This copy is autographed by Charles and has his personal seal.) Lots of insight from an excellent grower and photographer of orchids. Another picture inside. Book is almost brand, the cover shows a tad of wear but the book has none. 3. Carniverous Plants, by the Adrian Slack - 240 pages -8 1/2 x 10 5/8, lots of color and brand new! You can find out like I did what carniverous might grow with the orchids you raise. Brand New 4. Carniverous Plants of the World $20 - by the Pietropaoloes, 206 pages, 8 3/4 x 11 3/4, more good info on these interesting plants. Brand New 5. Angels and Demons, - $25 - abridged audio 5 CD's., by Dan Brown Whoops?! Not orchid info to say the least. But these are audio books, brand new, well, listened to once! This is a set of CD's you can listen to while driving, that's usually the way Pat and I listen to them. 6. The DaVinci Code, - $25 - abridged audio 6 CD's, by Dan Brown - Following Angels and Demons another interesting blockbuster. I like the Angels and Demons best but I guess Hollywood didn't. Besides, more people to offend with that one I bet, it's a doozy!! Again, this is a box of CD's listened to only once. Interesting story as you well know by now. 8. Eragon, $25.00 - unabridged audio CD's by Christopher Paolini, $25.00 14 CD's, listened to once. A great new world for you. The first in the adventures of Aragon, Dragon Rider. 9. Eldest, $25.00 - unabridged audio CD's by Christopher Paolini, (20) CD's to be exact. You'll love every minute of this fantasy... This is the continuing saga of Aragon and he grows and battles the bad guys. Great adventure on the scale of Lord of the Rings, I'm an old geeser but I enjoyed it as much, maybe more than Harry Potter, good escapism. Start with Eragon first or you miss part of the story. 11. Orchid Biology, Reviews and Perspectives - $100.00 - by Dr. Joseph Ardetti. Brand Spankin' New, 451 pages socked with Orchid info. Book Jacket as you can see is also in perfect condition. 12. Orchids - Their Botany and Culture, - $15.00 - by Alex D. Hawkes, 1961 - Book jacket shows wear but book is in perfect shape. One of the first really comprehensive books on orchids explaining how they grow and how you can best take advantage of this knowledge. 13. Orchids of Papua New Guinea - $20.00 - by Millar & MacKay - 1978 - Brand Spankin' New, but, I got a couple small tears in the book jacket, which is otherwise nice and shiney and new. This is the original publication by Timber Press, there is a new version, with a new jacket, same info. 14. Mist Propagation & Automatic Watering - $5 - by Welch - Lots of good info. if you want to get a little "tech-ier" with your plants. 15. The Slipper Orchids by Catherine Cash - $45 Hard Bound - 8 1/2 x 11 Brand Spankin' New 1 copy 16. Orchids and their Cultivation - $5 - Ninth Edition 1979 - by David Sander, Revisd Edition. David Sander was a pioneer in growing and collecting orchid species. This book was first published in 1932, and has been reprinted and revised several times. Good Reading. 17. Foliage Plants for Decorating Indoors by Virginia and George Elbert - $25 Hard Bound - 8 1/2 x 11 19. Trees and Shrubs - $20.00 - by Julie Grace, 1983, 582 pictures of trees and shrubs for identification, 9 x 12, 199 pages Brand new with jacket in perfect condition. 21. The Strange & Beautiful World of Orchids - Ebel & Burnbaum, near new $20 - 8 x 11 1/2 23. A Book of Orchids 30 or so watercolors by Juan Luis G. Vela - Near new - $5 - 9 x 11 1/2 24. Miniature Orchids Used $20, by Rebecca Northern - excellent condition - 9 x 11 1/2 29. Sunset Western Garden Book - 1973 printing, $2 - 8 1/2 x 11 32.The Rodale Book of Garden Photography - $18 - Charles Marden Fitch - Like New, and autographed by Charles Marden Fitch, a superb photographer and good friend over the years. - 8 1/2 x 11 35. Manual of Cultivated Trees & Shrubs.- Rehder - A very definitive, complete and thorough work on these plants. If you need or want to know it's here!! Brand New Issued @ $60, now $25 This and the picture book #30 above you have a great reference group. - 5 1/2 x 9 x 2 inches thick!! 36. The Encyclopedia of Cacti - $25 - 8 1/2 x 11 - Hard Cover - Brand New - Excellent reference book, 340 pages, 400 color pictures for identification purposes. 38. Orchids, A Kew Gardens Gardening Guide - by Joyce Stewart - $8 - 8 x 10 Brand New Hard Cover - 41.Orchids in Colour - Rittershausen $7- 5 x 7 - Good color photos of lots of plants you will likely run into in your orchid collecting. 42. Trees and Shrubs for Temperate Climates - $25 - Over 700 color photos. If you are having trouble identifying or finding that tree or shrub you like it will probably be in here. Find the picture and all the identification if available.
